At its heart is an extraordinary 1892 French hand-coloured poster of a woman astride a rearing horse, her banner flying defiantly in the wind and emblazoned with the words The Revolution is Love. Around her, the design blooms with flowers and rosettes borrowed from artwork of the same era, while French lions rest at her feet, embodying courage and strength. The columns with beribboned banners bearing messages of hope, faith, and beauty are taken from an 1870’s lithograph, as is the little sword and antique book etched with the timeless words: love one another. Rendered in vintage hues of faded red, sunwashed blue, soft green, and aged ivory, Love Revolution carries the romance of something both timeless and quietly radical. Every detail breathes with the idea that beauty, hope, and love are not fragile things—they are forces, capable of transforming the world one fearless heart at a time. Long live the revolution :)

The adjustable straps, oversized cut, and soft, flowy bamboo viscose make our Bohéme dresses a wardrobe staple for layering, running errands, dancing, lounging or napping — and they’re also a must-have for travel, wherever you roam. You can also wear this piece two ways, with the sun on one side of the bodice and florals on the other — depending on your mood.

Please note: The nature of our soft bamboo/wood viscose means it’s slightly sheer, so we recommend layering it with our Étoile slip (or any other slip you have) when wearing it with bare legs. Our model in the photos is wearing the dress without a slip.

100% viscose (derived from plant fibres such as bamboo and wood). Machine wash gentle or handwash and hang to dry. Iron to finish if needed.

For centuries, banners have carried more than just names or symbols — they’ve carried ideas. In art, especially, banners became a way to say something hopeful out loud: messages of love, beauty, faith, and belief woven directly into the image. Long before slogans were printed on signs, artists were lifting words into the air and letting them speak.

In the 19th century, the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood embraced this poetic tradition. Inspired by medieval and early Renaissance art, they filled their work with scrolls, ribbons, and banners bearing meaningful words. Women often appeared as allegorical figures — not as conquerors, but as carriers of ideals like love, truth, and hope, holding their banners as declarations of what they believed in.

Artists and designers of the era carried this idea beyond painting, weaving it into posters, book illustrations, and decorative objects. Messages celebrating compassion, unity, and shared humanity were especially resonant in a time of great change, offering a gentler vision of progress rooted in care rather than force.
