Created to embrace the transformative power of self love and awareness, this stunning kimono combines two magical pieces of art: a lush landscape of the waterfalls at Tivoli, Italy, painted by artist Louis Ducros in 1790, and an antique engraving depicting Lady Liberty created by E. Savage in 1796. We married them together to produce a rich, beautiful vision of a woman confidently stepping in to her own power. The painterly palette is feminine, romantic, and strong. 

100% viscose (derived from plant fibres such as wood and bamboo). Machine wash gentle or handwash and hang to dry. Iron to finish if needed.

Kimono measurements: length 118cm, width 78 cm (across back, underarm to underarm). Model is 5’9” for reference.

The wardrobe possibilities with this piece are endless! With the vibrant hue of the sky, and so many amazing earthy tones to play with, you can literally throw it over just about anything and look totally fantastic. We designed our lightweight robes to be worn with or without the belt, but we think they look particularly cool worn open and tied up in a loose knot at the back. We’ll be wearing it just like this with jeans, a simple tee, and boots all year long! Add a great pair of statement earrings and you’ll be comfy and effortlessly stylish :)

Hundreds of artists, many of them renowned, have painted the waterfalls at Tivoli from this same vantage point through the centuries. It’s fascinating to compare them and see the same landscape through many different eyes, and many different time periods — even the magnificent tree in the foreground of Ducros’ painting can be seen again and again through the years like a painted time capsule. In life — like in art — there is always another opportunity to see the world with a new perspective, and to become the best version of yourself :)

The Poem

In the foothills of her hardest days
she kneels in the rocks, 
bends her head and looks down the deep well 
of her heart. At the bottom 
she sees abandoned things in the water there:  
a white flash of crowded stars,
broken pottery, 
the tangled feathers of a bird.


When she dips her cup to drink 
she will taste a flood of remembering.
Apples and ache, breath and sunlight, mud and milk.
Forest rain. The sea. And the strong
wet iron in her bones. 
Her chest widens like the sky.
All at once there is room for everything inside her—
even her goodness. 
Room for all the stars,
a vase of flowers,

I have quite literally been wearing this robe everyday since it arrived

I have quite literally been wearing this robe everyday since it arrived. It looks and wears exactly like you'd assume and the whimsically glamorous feeling you get is very very real! As a rare kimono/robe wearer there are things about it I would love to add that would improve daily wear for me (like pockets somehow, or an inner tie to keep it in place when the waist is tied up) but it feels just as wonderful with nothing on underneath as it does over jeans and a top while running errands. I already know which one I want next and can't wait to see future designs! Also, I'm in Ontario and shipping was super quick and simple.
