This print was born from an archive of antique beauty: 1891 watercolour and graphite studies of magnolia blossoms originally drawn for Tiffany & Co., Victorian lithographs of ripe peaches glowing like tiny suns, and a whimsical 1830 sketch of an imagined fountain and garden pavilion where one might spend an endless afternoon. Moths and butterflies flit along its edges, borrowed from early 19th-century insect encyclopedias, their delicate wings a whisper of transformation and flight. Rendered in soft washes of peach, coral, sage, and sun-warmed tan, Fleur de Soleil feels like the memory of a perfect day. It carries the charm of a secret garden, the sweetness of fruit warmed by the sun, and the serene beauty of a place where time is measured only by the drifting of butterflies and the clinking of glasses filled with sweet tea.

100% viscose (derived from plant fibres such as bamboo and wood). Machine wash gentle or handwash and hang to dry. Iron to finish if needed.

The magnolias at the heart of Fleur de Soleil are drawn from a series of delicate botanical watercolours created in the late 19th century — a time when artists and designers were deeply inspired by the natural world. These kinds of studies were often used as references for decorative objects like ceramics & glassware, or fabric and jewelry designs. They captured flowers in exquisite detail, from the soft gradation of petals to the play of light across each bloom. Some of these particular works were created for Tiffany & Co. in 1891, as part of their design archive.

Magnolias have long been associated with beauty, perseverance, and grace. As one of the oldest flowering plants on earth, they are often seen as symbols of endurance and strength — blooming even after long seasons of rest.

In the decorative arts of this period, florals were rarely just ornamental.
