About the Print:

Wander through our garden… in its glowing season. 
Golden Hour is the sister print to our much-loved Love Grows Wild design, created from the same exquisite source material…but told at a different moment in the year. Instead of spring’s first rush of bloom, this design celebrates the richness of late summer and autumn, when the garden deepens, softens, and turns to gold.
The florals come from the 12 Months of Flowers, a remarkable series of hand-coloured engravings from the 1700s by Henry Fletcher, originally commissioned by celebrated English gardener Robert Furber. For Golden Hour, we selected flowers from the months of September through December, layering them together into a lush, painterly collage — sunflowers, asters, yarrow, and late-blooming treasures gathered into a single, glowing garden.
Instead of bees, the trim features a beautifully detailed hand-coloured engraving of a swallow from the 1800s — a timeless symbol of return, transition, and hope. The result is a rich, golden riot of flowers that feels warm and abundant, yet endlessly wearable — a piece that belongs as much to autumn and winter as it does to spring. It’s how our garden grows… and glows.

Cotton/spandex blend outer, lined in poly fleece. Machine wash gentle or handwash, gently reshape and lay flat to dry.

Cardigan measurements: length approximately 65cm, width (across back, underarm to underarm) approximately 74cm. Model is 5’5 for reference.

The Cottage Cardigan is the coziest thing we make — and with its warm, abundant palette, our Golden Hour print is also one of the most versatile! On cool summer evenings, drape it loosely over a linen slip dress, and add sandals and simple gold jewelry. And for quiet autumn days, throw it on over a simple tee or button-up shirt and your favourite jeans with loafers — super comfortable and far too pretty to save for special occasions ;) We’ll be wearing ours with a tiered skirt in rust or sage, distressed boots and gold jewelry — a creative, cozy look for whatever the day holds.

The original 12 Months of Flowers engravings were created as both art and garden guide — published as a seed and flower catalogue that showed what would be blooming throughout the year. While we adore the months that focus on spring’s exuberance, we’re equally drawn to the magic of the later months, when the garden becomes deeper, moodier, and more reflective.

Swallows have long appeared in art and folklore as messengers of the seasons, known for their long journeys and faithful returns. Paired with late-blooming flowers, they felt like the perfect companion for Golden Hour — a reminder that beauty doesn’t fade as the year turns, it simply changes tone.
