Honey & The Moon is our love letter to home — to the spaces we’ve built with our own hands here at Market of Stars,  and the quiet magic that lives in the details. Inspired by the black-and-ivory palette of our little studio and house (styled after a New England church and a century-old general store), this romantic floral design draws from a tangle of 19th-century lithographs — a garden dreamt up in ink. Trimmed in black and scattered with golden bees borrowed from an embossed Victorian book cover, it’s both grounded and celestial: a pattern that feels like moonlight through old glass, or vines climbing weathered wood.

A first for us in its totally neutral palette, Honey & The Moon is a departure in tone, but not in spirit. Rooted in the hush and harmony of overgrown gardens and blooming with old-world charm, it invites you to slip into the romance of another time — where beauty was built into the bones of things, and every corner held a story waiting to be found.

The adjustable straps, oversized cut, and soft, flowy bamboo viscose make our Bohéme dresses a wardrobe staple for layering, running errands, dancing, lounging or napping — and they’re also a must-have for travel, wherever you roam. You can also wear this piece two ways, with the butterfly on one side of the bodice and florals on the other — depending on your mood.

Please note: The nature of our soft bamboo/wood viscose means it’s slightly sheer, so we recommend layering it with our Étoile slip (or any other slip you have) when wearing it with bare legs. Our model in the photos is wearing the dress without a slip. Shown worn with our Honey & The Moon Opera Duster (sold separately).

100% viscose (derived from plant fibres such as bamboo and wood). Machine wash gentle or handwash and hang to dry. Iron to finish if needed.

Our Honey & The Moon Slip Dress feels timeless, romantic, and softly luminous — like a special vintage piece discovered in a tucked-away French antique shop. For everyday wear, we love it layered with a cropped cardigan or lightweight black jacket, paired with ballet flats or ankle boots, and finished with a leather tote for a look that feels relaxed and lived-in. When the mood turns dreamy, wear it on its own with simple sandals and delicate gold jewelry, letting the black linework florals and honeyed ivory background glow softly against the skin. And for evenings that call for a little nighttime magic, layer it beneath the matching Opera or Pixie Duster, add lace-up boots or an easy heel, and finish with a vintage belt or clutch — romantic, grounded, and made for moonlight.

In the 1800s, botanical etchings were more than scientific records — they were quiet odes to the natural world. Each print was created using a laborious process: artists drew directly onto lithographic stones, then the image was pressed in black ink and often hand-painted with delicate watercolours. Many of the artists were women whose names are lost to history, though their beautiful work still blooms across the page.

During the same era, the language of flowers — floriography — became a wildly popular way of sending coded messages to loved ones using hidden meanings. Roses spoke of love and longing; carnations, admiration; tulips, affection and grace. Poppies were tied to rest and remembrance, while passionflowers carried echoes of devotion. 

The floral fragments in Honey & The Moon were carefully collected from these 19th-century lithographs, then layered into a dreamscape of black and ivory to create an old world garden of meanings… reimagined for those who still speak its language.
